Lot Essay

This camera conforms in all respects to the Leica IIId. According to published serial number information this camera was from a batch of five Leica IIId cameras 367021-367025 produced in 1941.

A copy of an original receipt for the camera is extant. The camera was purchased by Capt. Brudenell, Royal Army Medical Corps, Hannover on 25 October 1951 from Andreas Brell, Köln. The receipt describes the camera: Leica IIId No. 367023 mit vergütetem Elmar 1:3,55/5 cm obj. No. 648741 mit Bereitschaftstasche, als Gelegenheit. DM 612.50.
