A foliate rimmed bowl painted and gilt with a central scene depicting figures at leisure on a riverbank below a band of flowerheads and stiff leaves to the rim, the exterior with shaped panels of officials before pavilions on a geometric and foliage ground -- 4¾in. (12cm.) diam, signed Dai Nihon Ryokuzan ga, (chip to interior rim); and a smaller bowl with rakan and boys -- 3½in. (9cm.) diam, signed Satsuma.
