An Art Nouveau gilt and gem belt buckle by Strydonck, designed as a central standing female figure with gem-set headdress and gown, within an openwork whiplash arch,with emerald single stone twin flowerheads above chased and engraved grotesques, the reverse signed L.Strydonck, with contemporary tooled leather belt.

Leopold van Strydonck was a Belgian jeweller specializing in the use of oxidised metals combining gem stones with fluid foliate designs, he became Court Jeweller working in Brussels, at 79 Montagne de la Cour and 14 Place du Musee.
