A large Momoyama lacquer coffer
with bronze carrying handles and mounts, decorated in mother-of-pearl and gold lacquer with two shaped panels to the top within borders of continuous stylised flowerhead roundels, the sides with further shaped cartouches of wisteria tied to bamboo fences, maple and flowers -- 44¾.in (113.7cm) wide, early 17th Century, (top panels with decoration worn away, chips, damages and old wear).
