Autograph letter signed ("affectionately your dear Father M. I. Brunel") to I. K. Brunel ("my dear Isambart" [sic]) at Duke Street, Westminster, one page, 8vo with integral address leaf, 25th Oct. [18]41.
Asking for his watch and commenting on the difficulty of finding engineers who are sufficiently well qualified to make working copies of his plans. "Pray send me my watch, I want it so frequently to time the rate of the pumps ---- I have seen Finlay; but he will not come to me. He has I understand an Office of consulting Engineer. He is willing to work at home but this will not do. Young Law is the only one I have now -- a most industrious young man and highly qualified for the task; but not enough for copies ... Drewet is a poor copyist for the money a mere copyist -- "
Corner of second leaf torn away.
