Enjoying another summer holiday at Chilcompton, he is nevertheless impatient for news of how the Tunnel is thriving. "Oblige me to drop me a line to say whether any thing is doing in our Tunnel Concern, and what is likely to be said of my absence. I have benefitted much in point of health, by it, and am ready to move to the Town Quarters. Your dear mother continues very poorly but she is going to write to you!"
"Dear Isambard," runs Sophia's note, "your father is fidgetting that there should be some report for this Month."
