Three autograph letters signed ("I. K. Brunel") to the resident engineer of the Great Western Railway, J.W. Hammond, 6 pages, 4to, Bristol and Reading, September 26th and October 18th 1833 and July 12th 1834.
The letters instruct Hammond on various matters regarding the Bristol to London railway line and informing him of developments with the surveys. "See him and ask him whether he can run trial levels quick. I want somebody immediately to run a level -- quickly without much chaining about 10 miles in the neighbourhood of Chippenham."
Wax seals removed affecting text on one letter, all creased on folds. (3)
