"I should by no means wish to interfere with the arrangements named in your letter -- on Friday morning Gladstone will meet you at York -- Black Swan Inn -- he will be there in the morning and wait your arrival -- I shall be at Newcastle on Monday and intend remaining there for a week ... otherwise I should certainly have made a point of being with you on the North Midland...."
