VICE-ADMIRAL CUTHBERT COLLINGWOOD (1750-1810) & ADMIRAL JOHN THOMAS DUCKWORTH (1748-1817)
Six autograph letters and orders signed by Collingwood, including a General Order, 9 pages, folio, blank leaves, "given on board the Queen, Gibralter bay," and "given on board the Dreadnought, off Cadiz," 23 June - 19 November 1805. With 4 memoranda referring to enemy ships.
The collection includes a General Order, dated 23rd June 1805, concerning the blockade of Cadiz; 2 letters signed to John Duckworth, dated 18th and 19th November 1805, enclosing a copy of a letter by Castlereagh concerning the blockade and ordering Duckworth to take seven further ships under his orders to obtain supplies from Tangier; and 2 memoranda referring to the order of battle (1806).
With a collection of approximately 200 autograph drafts and notes and Admiralty orders addressed to Admiral Duckworth, on naval matters, including instructions to him as Commander-in-Chief, Newfoundland, signatures include Earl Spencer, Earl St. Vincent, Even Neapean, J. W. Croker and others, 1801-12.
