JOHN EVERETT MILLAIS (1829-96); FORD MADOX BROWN (1821-93); WILLIAM MICHAEL ROSSETTI (1829-1919) & OTHERS.
Autograph letter signed ("John Everett Millais") to Miss Sass, 2 pages, 8vo, [n.p.], 10 July 1863 (left margin torn and repaired with masking tape).
"The picture of Isabella was never an Art Union prize, it was bought [by] Mr. Collis in Bond Street and photographed by him when photography was in its infancy, which accounts for the badness of the impression you speak of. It was taken from the picture which is now in the possession of Mr. Windus of Tottenham."
Autograph letter signed ("F. Madox B."), to Hélène, 3 pages, 8vo, 3 Addison Terrace, Victoria Park, Manchester, 14 August 1883.
"I am truly - if you will believe me - sorry to have had to break our engagement for today - but you see Miss Blind announcing her coming this evening - when after a journey of any length she frequently wants all sorts of attentions - rendered our coming over to Oldham out of the question. The provoking part of it is that after all instead of her coming she wishes to say she is very disappointed but must fend off her visit till her return, as she is eager to reach the Highlands before any possible change of weather interfere with her getting there."
With 3 other autograph letters from William Michael Rossetti, Edward Burne Jones's wife and Mary Oliphant. (5)
