The following 16 lots comprise a unique collection of miniature pottery figures based on the characters of Beatrix Potter, the painstaking creation of Anna Awdry, of Farnham, Surrey. They were specially commissioned during the early 1960s by her friend Leslie Linder, who saw in their meticulous attention to detail and truth to narrative incident the essence of the original illustrations. As each figure was completed it was sent by post from Farnham to the Linder's house in Buckhurst Hill where the collection was on permanent display. After Leslie Linder's death, the figures were bequeathed by his sister, Enid, to Margaret Smith's daughter, Jane. Each is hand-painted and approximately 40mm. in height.
