The following Lot is being sold
to raise funds for Good Bears of the World
Dutch Branch
The Dutch branch of the internationl non-profit organization Good Bears of the World started only a few years ago. The organization spreads love and caring by giving away teddy bears to hurt, abused and traumatised children.
Right from the beginning Annemieke Koetse of Boefje Bears became involved making bear-kits and back-pack designs for them, which the foundation sold in Hospital shops and other outlets.
Globear was created by Annemieke inspired by the desire to help Good Bears of the World even further. His objective was to travel worldwide for one year attracting publicity for Good Bears of the World then sold at Christie's to raise funds forthe charity.
Globear's travels
His first trip was to the Galapagos Islands and Equador. At the Galapogos Islands he survived boat trips in very stormy weather and once safely ashore he enjoyed many an hour with the sealions and the iguanas.
In the jungle near the border with Peru, Globear had to sleep under a mosquito net to protect him from giant spiders, terrifying bats and voracious possums. High in the Andes mountains he met his roots, the alpacagoats, which were stupefied to see their wooly fur transferred into a teddy bear.
Globear felt safer in the surroundings of Theodore's Bear Emporium in London. One customer of the shop treated him to a First Class trip by train to Bath where she bought him a honey bun at Sally Lunns. She also introduced him to Sherlock Holmes and organized a meeting with Rupert, Pooh and Paddington.
October 1995: a long-haul to Oregon brings Globear back to America where he spends a few days with Maxime Hurst. He drives to Lincoln City where he attends Bearadise Convention of GBW. There he is introduced to Ted Menten, Terry & Doris Michaud and many teddy bear artists.
November 1995: Geri Williams flies Globear to Columbus, Ohio to attend the Bearry Merry Christmas show of Pat Moore and then Lisa Scroggins takes Globear to Virginia.
In April 1996 Beth & Ben Savino flew him to Tokyo, where they attended the 4th Teddy Bear Convention of the Japanese Tedy Bear Association.
