There have been over 200 annonymous German soft manufacturers, many of which were based in Nurenberg alone. Many of the well know Soft Toy makers were also based in Nurenberg and Sonneberg such as Gebr. Bing, Wilhelm Strunz, Josef Deuerlein, Martin Winterbauer, Schreyer & Co., and of course Josef Pitrmann (Jopi). Sadly, little is know about the Nurenberg Soft toy company. Examples found show Josef Pitrmann was producing teddy bears and soft toys from 1911 displayed with the tag mark Josef Pitrmann. In 1922 the tag trade mark changed depicting a bear with a Christmas Tree. Later, in the 1930s, they changed their label to a horse and rider and produced under the name of Very Fine Soft Toys, Jopi. In 1938 Josef Pitrmann died, however, his wife and daughter continued his work. Little documentation is know since the popular launch of their musical bear in the 1920s, however, they were seen exhibiting in 1959 in a large toy exhibition in Nurenberg, presenting brightly coloured musical bears. These bears were noted as being a main attraction of the exhibition.
