A wakizashi with silk bound shagreen hilt, gilt bronze nanako kashira decorated in relief with a grasshopper amongst flowerheads, iron fuchi with gilt onlay decoration, gilt bronze menuki modelled as fruiting branches, oval gilt bronze tsuba decorated in relief with a hut beneath a blossoming prunus tree, and speckled black lacquer scabbard -- the blade 18½in. (47cm) long, 17th Century, signed Bizen Kuni Mune.
