A rare late 16th-century brass Holland Circle, unsigned, the circle with engraved divisions and stamped numerals in four quadrants, arranged with two fixed sights, the alidade with two similar sights, one end drilled and tapped so as to be held secure by a locking screw on chain when not in use, the cruciform frame with compass socket (compass missing) and staff-attachment, with suspension loop, 8.3/4in. (22.2cm.) diam.
