An early 19th-Century lacquered-brass Cuff-type compound monocular microscope,
unsigned, the body-tube with turned bands located on a limb from the rectangular section pillar, with sliding focus adjustment and fine-screw motion, the cruciform stage with sprung slide holder and lower sub-stage with lens, the pillar with scroll support, mounted on a shaped base plate with plano-concave mirror, on a mahogany base with ebony banding and oak floor, the drawer containing six objectives, a frog-plate, forceps, live-box, brass slider, ivory canister for brass rings and mica discs, and other items, in pyramid-shaped case with lower accessory drawer containing written instructions on watermarked paper, with brass carrying handle -- 18in. (45.7cm.) high
