A late 18th-Century lacquered-brass and lignum-vitae Culpeper-type microscope,
the brass eyepiece with dust slide, the vellum-covered draw-tube with gilt tooling and inscribed bands with graduations to correspond with five objectives, with lignum-vitae mount, in brass-mounted leather-covered gilt tooled outer body-tube, raised on three baluster-turned supports over the stage, with sprung slide holder, raised in turn on three similarly baluster-turned supports from the base, incorporating the swivel mirror, with bull's-eye condenser, two tortoiseshell sliders, brass slider, five objectives, reproduction trade label, in tapering oak carrying case -- 18in. (45.7cm.) high
