A pair of Kutani slender tapering vases with pierced foliate handles and flaring necks and feet, painted and gilt with overlapping panels of officials and attendants, a figure before a retreat in a river landscape and a bird and butterfly amongst prunus, all on grounds of floral roundels and whorl pattern, the necks with entwined gourds and flowers -- 14½in. (37cm.) high, (one with restoration to the neck.)
