AN OAK HARDWOOD AND PARQUETRY DISPLAY CABINET, mid 19th century
Carved with foliate and beaded decoration, the shelved superstructure on pierced scroll supports carved Namur 14 Feb 1797 St. Vincent, with a glazed door below carved with and a nautical trophy, the stand with a shaped apron, on foliate and egg-and-dart carved square section legs, with paper label inscribed Pollard
26in. (66cm.) wide, 51½in. (131cm.) high, 16½in. (42cm.) deep
Sold with a letter from the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, dated 26th September 1963 explaining the origin of the display case, probably made from the wood taken from H.M.S. Namur, which was broken-up at Chatham in 1833
