Lot Essay

St Augustine likened God metaphorically to a cluster of grapes from the Promised Land, which had been put under the wine press. Alluding to two passages from the Old Testament: the two men sent ahead by Moses to spy out the land of Canaan, who cut a bunch of grapes and carried it back on a pole (Num 13:17-29).
