'An Instance Never Known Before'
signed and extensively inscribed 'An Instance Never Known Before./In July 1811. A butcher went to the seat of Thos. Willan Esqr. at Farmington near Northleach Gloucestershire. To kill an old cart horse. After/he had struck the horse, the man employed to hold it dropt the halter. The horse immediately ran at the butcher, who took to his/heels & after several turns in the field they entered the riek-yard. The butcher being an old man and quite exhausted fell between/the ricks. The horse caught at him but (luckily missed) and fell to rise no more. In a few minutes the man of blood, assisted/by fear crept softly away not to disturb his persuer till it was quite dead.
