Richard Pudsey Dawson was an accomplished late Victorian turner and a member of the Amateur Mechanical Society. He made much of his own apparatus, including a geometric slide-rest which he patented and was later made by J.H.Evans. The original is still in existence and the stamp on this small item is the same.
