A pair of American simulated rosewood and parcel gilt side-chairs, mid 19th century each with an arched top-rail and shaped panel decorated with a lyre, foliage and fruit with rush seats and a half round seat rail on stretchered sabre legs, with a shaped front stretcher
The decoration and certian structural features of these chairs clearly relate them to the so-called "Hitchcock" chairs produced throughout the North-Eastern United States during the mid 19th century
