A pair of gilt circular wall plaques,
one depicting Elizabeth I with a background of a castle and ships, the border chased with flowers and scrolls with a vacant cartouche at the bottom, and with a hanging ring on the reverse, the other depicting the Earl of Essex against a background of trees and ladies in seventeenth century dress, the border chased with foliage, trumpets, banners and spears, the top with a mask, the bottom with a cartouche, the reverse with an applied hanging loop - 17½in (44cm dia).
