A mid 19th Century probably instrument maker's model of a perambulatory machine,
with brass plate engraved Locomotive Routière á Patins donnée par M. FOURTIN-HERMANN and believed to have been built circa 1867, comprising a copper cylinder supported on two steerable platforms, each with two outboard mounted single acting cylinders piped for compressed air operation, driving a total of six pad feet through a series of cranks, slotted links and levers, both platforms being interconnected and with rack and pinion hand wheel operated steering, finished in black and polished brightwork -- 14½ x 20½in. (36.8 x 52cm.)
