First published in Stockholm in 1764. Norman 1849 says of the original edition: "Rosén von Rosenstein's treatise on the diseases of children 'was the most progressive which had yet been written, and it gave an impetus to research which influenced the future course of paediatrics' ... he was ahead of his time in advising that 'all food for children ought to be well covered over, that no insect or any such thing can get at it.' He gave excellent descriptions of whooping cough and scarlet fever, and was one of the first Swedish physicians to recommend inoculation for smallpox."
