the substantial case elaborately carved overall with shells, scrolls and fruiting swags, the inverted breakfront hood with arched cresting (detached) modelled with reclining amorini, the stepped cornices supported by atlantes figures, the conforming trunk with caryatid figures flanking the door carved with a female mask above a lion mask, with exotic birds to the sides, the 14½in. (37cm.) square gilt-brass dial with chased foliate scroll spandrels and centre, silvered Arabic chapter ring, subsidiary seconds ring to the centre, with retailer's signature MAPLE & CO LTD LONDON, strike/silent and eight bells/four gongs adjustment lever to the side, the substantial three-train movement with anchor escapement and hour strike on gong, with quarter chimes on eight bells or four further gongs -- 107in.
