Lot Essay

A personal album belonging to a military figure, living in Edinburgh, who served with the army in India from 1910-13. Containing mainly amateur views which include group military portraits, several images from a tiger hunt in Nepal including hoisting a dead tiger onto an elephant's back, crossing the river on elephants, a group portrait with four dead tigers and a bear, men cutting up a dead rhinoceros, snow scenes, several mountain views around Leh, Chang La, Pangong Lake; and portraits of mountain tribes.
