European artist Hans Flato was hired by Paramount Studio in the early 1930s to design posters for their new leading lady Marlene Dietrich. However the studio always tampered with the original artworks chosen to make them more commercial. The Belgian poster for Dishonored is highly unusual in that it was taken directly from a painting by Flato. This and the style B French poster for The Scarlett Empress, lot 239, transcend traditional film posters and are true connoisseur pieces.
