Pretty Vacant, released in 1977 was the Sex Pistol's third single and arguably their most melodic and accessible to date, reaching the Top 10 in the U.K. charts. ... The song's hook 'We're so pretty..' echoed a Sunday Times piece on the Bay City Rollers... which had a picture caption 'They're So Pretty..'. John Lydon's additional negative lyrics in the released version reflected the tension between Lydon and Matlock. By the time the song became a chart hit Glen Matlock who was largely responsible for it, had been replaced by Sid Vicious. The group's debut album Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols which also featured this track came out in the winter of 1977 and rocketed to number one in the U.K. album charts.
