Thirteen rare black and white photographs by Seb Jenkins of the original line-up of Pink Floyd taken at their first public performance at a private party in Surrey, circa May, 1964, each stamped on the obverse Proof Only and with photographer's ink credit on the reverse, subjects include: four shots of Syd Barrett, a group shot of Syd Barret, Roger Waters and Bob Close on guitars and Chris Dennis on lead vocals, a shot of Waters on guitar and Dennis on vocals and three portraits of Bob Close on guitar or harmonica, each -- 4½x3¼in. (11.4x8.3cm.) or 3¼x4½in. (8.3x11.4cm.) (13)

Lot Essay

According to Chris Dennis, this occasion was Pink Floyd's first public appearance, Nick Mason and Richard Wright were also there but were out of camera. These proof photographs are apparently the only record of this event.
