signed on the silvered compass dial Cary London, the telescope with bubble level, lens cap and draw-tube focusing, mounted between twin clamps on a frame with the vertical half-circle, the twin axis supported on the frames, with rack and pinion altitude adjustment, vernier scale, the compass box with edge-bar needle on pivot with jewelled cap and locking clamp, the horizontal circle divided in four quadrants, the base plate with cross bubble and chamfered silvered circle with single vernier and adjustment by internal rack gear, the underside with fine tangent-screw adjustment and clamp with mounting for staff or tripod, in fitted mahogany case, with associated screwdriver -- 10 7/8in.
