unsigned, the hour ring with spring-loaded bar gnomon, the upper surface engraved NORTH LATS. IIII - XII - VIII and SOUTH LATS. VIII - XII - IIII, the inner edge engraved VIII - XII - VI, the folding latitude arc engraved 0° - 90°, the compass box with silvered dial, level and cross-bubble, the edge-bar needle with jewelled cap and clamp, on shaped platform base with three adjustable screw feet -- 4 3/8in. (11cm.) diameter, in plush-lined fitted mahogany case.
