signed on the silvered dial John Davis & Son Derby Ltd No. 1023, the telescope with rack and pinion focusing, ray shade and dust slide, the vertical 5in. silvered circle with axis raised on twin "A" frames, over the compass with edge-bar needle and agate cap, level and cross bubble, enclosed silvered horizontal circle with twin verniers, tangent screw fine adjustment and clamp, on four screw tripod attachment in mahogany case -- 19¼in. (49cm.) high
