Lot Essay

Sold with this work box is a note which reads: 'This workbox, beautifully fitted up, was given to me in 1837 by my dear father Capt. Newdigate Poyntz R N, and I now give it to my dear niece Romola Poyntz with the hope she will take every care of it as I have done and value it in memory of her grandfather and myself. Alice Wood, Ashberry, Nr Chepstow, 1915.'

Alice Poyntz married 1856 Rev. Jacob Wood.,Rector of Syde & Stratton. Helen Romola Poyntz married 1922 Henry Bull and lived in Tangier.
