the arched hood with moulded entablature surmounted by spiked-orb brass finials and centred by an eagle finial, the hood flanked by cylindrical column uprights with brass caps flanking an arched brass dial with Roman and Arabic chapter ring enclosing a matted centre with date aperture and seconds ring and applied with a plaque signed Edn'd Hunsdon, Chelmsford, within foliate 'C' scroll spandrels below a polychrome tidal arch depicting a masted vessel at sea (tidal ring lacking), the twin train movement with anchor escapement striking a bell, with a brass cased weight, a lead weight and a pendulum -- 92¼in.
