The artist studied for an agricultural degree and acted as a guide on the Zambezi river, the artist began a full time career in 1988. After a number of successful exhibitions in London, New York and Johannesburg he was awarded the Catasus medal from the Society of animal artists. The artist has illustrated numerous books on Africa, most recently a childrens book done in collaboration with the late Sir Laurens van der Post.
