An Amlash pottery rhyton in the form of a horse
8th-7th Century B.C.
With elegantly arching neck and head, both modelled flat, the swelling body on tapering legs, with arched tail forming a ring handle joined to the everted rim of the circular mouth emerging from the animal's back, a pouring spout between the forelegs, the whole ornamented with incised lines indicating harness and trappings, with incised mane, concentric circle eyes and applied ears
10 1/8 in. (25.7 cm.) high; 10½ in. (26.7 cm.) long
