Cf. V. Webb, Archaic Greek Faience, Warminster, 1978, pp. 81, 92 and 94-96, pl. XIV, nos. 482-550 for this type of amulet classified as from the Black and White Blob Group. These amulets " ... have a good distribution in East Greece, and were found in great numbers at Naucratis. Other finds have been made in the Sanctuaries of Mainland Greece, the Black Sea colonial sites, and the West. These, it is clear from the fabric, style and types, were made to satisfy the demands of a particular non-Egyptian market. Their place of manufacture is either Naucratis or East Greece or both, ...".
