A Roman gold-mounted banded agate cameo pendant
3rd Century A.D.
The oval cameo cut in the white layer with a portrait bust of a draped young woman in profile to the right, wearing a 'Helmfrisur' coiffure with a plaited section of hair folded at the nape of the neck, mounted in an oval gold box-setting with border of twisted gold wire S-scrolls with gold granule terminals, with outer openwork border of lotus flowers, the reverse with attachment hook and ribbed loop
