The background scene showing a draped woman to the left offering a casket to a youth wearing a wreath on the right, a frieze of continuous scrolls below and tongues above, the reverse with palmette decoration. The whole gessoed with remains of blue colouring, the front with applied high relief terracotta figure of ithyphallic Pan with goat legs and horns embracing a naked maenad, flanked by two curling snakes, the rear handle terminating in a grotesque mask linked to the side handles by swags of fruit and foliage, one handle partially missing
