A Roman marble bust of 'Alexander the Great as Helios'
Circa 2nd Century A.D., a Roman copy of a Greek original of late 4th/early 3rd Century B.C.
Wearing a tunic and hooded cloak over his left shoulder, with characteristic long curls emerging from beneath the hood which is surmounted by a radiate sun-disc, with heavy-lidded almond-shaped eyes and full lips, right arm extended, traces of red pigment on curls and sun-disc, repaired, mounted
14¼ in. (36.3 cm.) high; 14½ in. (37 cm.) across

Spinks, London, 1965; reputedly from Alexandria prior to World War II.
