Lager illustrates Leica 72 no. 397604 and discusses 397606. Hasbroeck describes the chronology of the Leica 72 in some detail and, in particular, this camera. This camera is based on a Leica IIIc chassis and to date only two examples have been recorded 397604 (shown in Lager, p. 81) and 397606. This variant appears to be the initial experimentation for the development of the Leica 72.
