Lot Essay

The Leica MP was introduced in 1956. MP1 to MP12 were presentation models and were finished in chrome, MP13-MP150 were finished in black and MP151 onwards were chrome. The highest recorded serial number is MP402.

Lager illustrates and describes MP9 (p. 194). According to the Leitz order book (reproduced in Leica Cameras, 21 November 1997, p. 104) MP9 was sold to 'Murra' and shipped to New York on 19 October 1956.

Leica MP7 was included in Leica Cameras (21 November 1997), lot 715.
