Two baluster vases, one painted and gilt with legendary scenes of warriors, officials and ladies in an interior and before a retreat in a rocky landscape, all on a ground of smaller panels of birds amongst flowers and within borders of geometric and floral designs -- 5¾in. (14.5cm.) high, signed Hozan zo; and another decorated with scholars, rakan and boys, all on a ground of cranes in flight and geometric designs -- 6in. (15cm.) high, signed Kozan.
