Lot Essay

Kenneth Lotherington Hutchings (1882-1916) of Kent and England "was an outstanding right-handed batsman amid a galaxy of amateur talent the like of which has never been seen since. His driving was outstanding, and his fielding in the slips or the deep equally so. He was a regular choice for England for several years, touring Australia with M.C.C. in 1907/8 and playing against Australia again in 1909" (Christopher Martin-Jenkins Who's Who of Test Cricketers p. 81).
