Literature
Published in Punch, summer number 1920, and summer number 1931. A bespectacled batsman, waiting to come in, moves from the pavillion to a spectator's bench where he eventually falls asleep and misses the entire game. In the second cartoon, a batsman, who does get to the crease, is unable to hit anything. He finds an excuse for leaving various artful deliveries alone but is dismissed by a "horrible plain half volley."
