An export oil painting on canvas depicting a down river view of the Hoogly River in India with trade boats before colonial and trade buildings set among palm trees on the riverbanks, the channel on the right of the painting is most probably the waterway separating French Chandranagal and Dutch Chinsura -- 9½in. x 13½in. (24cms x 34.2cms), 19th century, giltwood frame, (paint very lightly cracked).
