A pair of 18th century Paumier hand bats ("gants de paume"), manufactured by Creton René, Paris, used for jeu de paume, vellum-fronted with hollow vellum-covered convex wooden back and red morocco handle and trimmings, 210mm. (8¼in.) long -- A later 19th century Pelotta hand bat, with concave vellum cup and black leather glove handle, 225mm. (9in.) long. (3)
