A five-piece silver tea and coffee service by J. Winter of Stockport after an 18th century design by Paul Lamerie, comprising: coffee pot, teapot, hot water jug, milk jug and sugar bowl, each piece fluted and vase-shaped and engraved with friezes of arabesques, the coffee pot, teapot and hot water jug with leaf-carved fruitwood scroll handles and silver-mounted wood finials, with a matching two-handled shaped oval tea-tray on four scroll feet, with engraved inscription: "County Borough of Stockport. This Service was presented to Frederick John Perry Esq. on May 7th 1935 by the Corporation of Stockport on the occasion of his visit to his native town as a memento of his great achievements in the Tennis World during the year 1934. Wimbledon - American - Australian - Championships. Member of the British Team - Winners of the Davis Cup," hallmarked Birmingham 1934, height of coffee pot 190mm. (7½in.), length of tea tray 640mm.
